EL: Olympiacos, Unicaja, Efes, Lietuvos…
BC Partizan is creating the team for the new Euroleague campaign of 2009-2010. After the draw in Barcelona today Partizan is in group B with Olympiakos, Unicaja, Efes Pilsen, the winners of the ULEB Cup Lietuvos Ritas and the qualifier.
Partizan drew probably the toughest group in the new Euroleague season but our team gained experience against some of the teams from our group in the previous seasons.
Duško Vujošević received the prestigious award for the best Euroleague Head Coach “Aleksandar Gomeljskiy“ with his Euroleague colleagues giving him most votes. This was the first time the award is not given to the coach who won the Euroleague in the season. Vujošević now joined the league of extraordinary gentlemen with Željko Obradović, Pini Gershon and Etore Messina.
New Euroleague season starts on October 21, but qualifying rounds will be played on September 29 and October 9. with Orleans – Charleroi, Benetton – Ventspils, Alba – Le Man and Marusi – Aris fighting for the two vacant places in the Euroleague groups.
The first group phase finishes on January 14, 2010 and the next phase, Top 16 starts on January 28 and lasts until March 11.
The quarterfinals are scheduled for the period of March 23 to April 7, and Final4 will be held in Paris on May 7-9.
Group A: Barcelona, Montepaschi, Cibona, Fenerbahče, Žalgiris, Asvel
Group B: Olympiakos, Partizan, Unicaja, Efes Pilsen, Lijetuvos Ritas, qualifier
Group C: CSKA, TAU Ceramica, Maccabi, Virtus, Olimpija, qualifier
Group D: Panathinaikos, Real Madrid, Armani Jeans, Prokom, Khimki, Oldenburg
