Sixers defeats the Wizards at home, 120-89

Philadelphia, PA — The Philadelphia 76ers continues to dominate at home by winning their five straight home victory over the visiting Washington Wizards, 120-89, Friday at the Wells Fargo Center.
Jodee Meeks tied his career high 26 points to lead the 76ers to victory. Luo Williams provided a great support coming off the bench by scoring 19 points. Andre Iguodala and Elton Brand each scored 13 points and had a great defensive effort to beat the struggling Wizards. Spencer Hawes had 10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one blocked shot for the Sixers.
“Every shot I took, I felt like it was going in. I know it’s not going to be like that every night, but it sure felt great,” said Meeks.
“We have a good mix here. Guys are playing for each other,” said Brand.
The Sixers improved their record to 8-3 and they sit behind the Chicago Bulls who are at the top spot.
On the other hand, veteran Rashard Lewis came off the bench and poured 16 points to lead the Washington Wizards. Kevin Seraphin and Jordan Crawford also helped and scored 12 each. Nick Young led the Wizards’ starters with 11 points while John Wall still struggles to score.
Boxer Bernard Hopkins was one of the persons who witnessed the action in Philly as he watched the game in the front row seat.
The Wizards will aim for their second victory and hopefully gets it this Saturday as they face the Sixers for the second time.
“Washington Wizards is like a team that is playing practice. They don’t act like they are playing in the biggest basketball league in the whole world,” said Jason Valejo.
“I loved how Iguodala and Brand play defense in this game, they did really harrass the Wizards and force some turnovers,” said a resident of Philly who watched the game Carter Rogers.
