Rockets burns Pistons, 97-80
HOUSTON, TX — Six of the Houston Rockets players scored double digits led by big man Samuel Dalembert with a double double 14 points and 12 rebounds to defeat the visiting Detroir Pistons, 97-80, Tuesday night at the Toyota Center.
Kyle Lowry had 13 points, five boards and five assists, Luis Scola had 14, Patrick Patterson had a season high 12 points while Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic scored 11 points each for the Rockets who displayed a team effort in beating the Pistons.
“It was nice to give the guys some rest and try to keep K-Mart [Kevin Martin], Luis [Scola] and Kyle under 30 minutes. … We got to keep Kyle and Kevin and those guys out of the gym tomorrow. They’ve logged heavy minutes lately. Having done that myself, I just know how tired it makes you,” said Rockets coach Kevin McHale.
It was the help of the reserves that kept Martin and Lowry resting on the bench to get erase their fatigue, the main guards only played below 39 minutes in the game.
Tayshaun Prince was the player who led the Pistons with 20 points. Ben Wallace was moved to the starting lineup but had no effect. Ben Gordon had 18 points, Brandon Knight scored 15 while Rodney Stuckey came off the bench with 16 points.
The Rockets is back in the .500 mark as they moved up to 7-7 and the Pistons is still struggling as they moved down to 3-11.
Detroit will be facing the Minnesota Timberwolves this Wednesday while the Rockets will try to hit five straight against the New Orleans Hornets on Thursday.
