Sixers ousts Hawks, 90-76

PHILADELPIA, PA — Reserve Thaddeus Young heroed the game for the Philadelpia 76ers as they beat the high flying Atlanta Hawks, 90-76, Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
Young scored 20 points off the bench by sinking 8 of his 11 shots and complete 4 of 4 in the free throw line for only 22 minutes and 43 seconds. Jrue Holiday had a double double with 16 points and 11 assists while Jodee Meeks scored 12.
Elton Brand got the most rebounds as he tallied a double double with 16 rebounds and 10 points while Andre Iguodala added 11 points for the sixers.
“If we want to say we’re an elite team, we have to win this game,” said Brand.
The big man of Philly outrebounded the Hawks 51-32 and their defense was the key of their second half comeback.
The SiXers trailed 51-44 entering the third quarter but they stood up and made a 14-0 run to get back on track. The momentum shifted to their side until the end of regulation.
“I don’t think anyone was concerned. Whether we’re up or whether we’re down, we have a lot of faith. The coaches have a lot of faith and we feel like we’re going to come out strong. We believe in what we’re doing and we have a lot of confidence in this locker room.”

On the other hand, reserve Willie Green led the Hawks with 14 points of the bench for 6 of 7 in the field. Jeff Teague had 12 points while Josh Smith and veteran Tracy McGrady added 10 each for the Hawks who failed to protect their 14 point lead.
The Hawks will battle the Cleveland Cavaliers this Saturday while the Sixers will meet LeBron and the Miami Heat still on Saturday.
