Celtics back on track but Rondo still missing

CLEVELAND, OH — In their last meeting the Cleveland Cavaliers snapped the Boston Celtics’ four game winning streak by beatin them in the garden two days ago but this time the Celtics came back when the big three was complete.
The Celtics avenged their loss against the Cavs, 93-90 on Tuesday night at the Quicken Loans Arena.
Ray Allen in back after missing a lot of games because of his injury. He was guarded the whole time because the Cavs know what he is capable off so instead of shooting he just shared the basketball.
Allen finished with 12 points in the game and had a season-high eight assists and two steals.
Paul Pierce scored 20 points to lead Boston, Kevin Garnett and Brandon Bass added 13 each and combined for 10 rebounds. Jermaine O’neal is also back in the game and added 12 points. What is missing is one of the best point guards in the NBA Rajon Rondo who is still mending his injuries.
“Going forward, we need to sustain that energy that we had in the fourth quarter. We tried to come back against a good Boston team, but it’s tough to do. They have a ton of talent, I mean, that’s the ‘Big Three’ [Pierce, Garnett and shooting guard Ray Allen] right there. It’s hard to get stops on them,” said Kyrie Irving.
The Cavs were led by rookie guard Kyrie Irving who had 21 points in the games. Anderson Varejao had a 20-20 performance with 20 points and 20 rebounds to support Irving.
“It’s good to have a game like that, but we didn’t take care of our home court. We have to win more games at home. It was a tough loss. At least we gave ourselves a chance to get back in the game and tried to win,” said Varejao who posted Cavaliers’ first 20-20 game since 2004.
Antawn Jamison had 12 points and Alonzo Gee added 11 off the bench for the Cavs losing effort.
The Celtics will battle the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday and the Cavs will take on the Orlando Majic on Friday.
