Carmelo is back, Knicks rout Pistons
NEW YORK, NY — New York all star forward Carmelo Anthony returns to the Madison Square Garden and joined the line up of the New York Knicks after missing some games. The Knicks defeated the Detroit Pistons who invaded their turf, 113-86 on Tuesday night.
Anthony led the Knicks with 25 points for 9 of 14 in the field and six assists. “He’s one of the best players in the world. He’s a good passer so it was definitely great to have him back tonight,” said teammate Chandler on Anthony.
Landry Fields had the hot hand for the Knicks as he scored 18 points for 7 of 10 in the field including 4 of 6 behind the arc.
“Landry was phenomenal in the first quarter…He’s 4-for-6 from three [overall]. Those might be the first 3′s he’s hit in about a month and a half,” said Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni.
Tyson Chandler also got motivated and scored 17 points and also grabbed eight rebounds. Amare Stoudemire had 15 points while Bill Walker added 11 points off then bench.
On the other hand, the Pistons are still playing without Ben Gordon with a sore left shoulder still struggles to find their rhythm.
Greg Monroe scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds, he is consistently improving. Rodney Stuckey also had 13 points for 5 of 8 shooting. Jonas Jerebko was hot off the bench and added 15 points for the Pistons.
The Knicks will meet D-Rose and the Chicago Bulls this Thursday while the Pistons will face the New Jersey Nets on Wednesday.
