Rockets blaze Nuggets, 99-90

DENVER, CO — The Houston Rockets lost their first game in their six game road trip in Minnesota but they came back strong to avenge their loss against the Denver Nuggets, 99-90 at the Pepsi Center on Monday night.
Luis Scola scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Rockets while Kyle Lowry scored 20 points for 7 of 11 shooting including 5 of 6 in the three point line.
“It was an interesting game. A lot more games get thrown in the trash like this one will than go to Springfield. They’re not looping this game in Springfield I can tell you that. Someone had to win that game and I’m glad it was us,” said Rockets head coach Kevin McHale.
Chase Budinger had 16 points off the bench including the game winning three point shot for the Rockets. Courtney Lee added 10 points off the bench.
“We kept on taking our normal shots and we didn’t think about how we’d been missing. We came out like we always did and starting hitting shots in the second half,” said Budinger.
On the other hand, six of the Nuggets scored in double digits but it was not enough to win against the visiting Rockets.
Danilo Gallinari and Rudy Anderson each scored 14 points for Denver. Ty Lawson had 13 points while Al Harrington and Andre Miller each scored 12 points of the bench. Chris Anderson added 10 points for the losing team.
The Nuggets had a bad shooting percentage and was 3 of 22 of the three point area compared to 10 of 19 for the Rockets.
“There were some strange things dealt on our end and we fought through a lot of them. If we would have pulled it out it would have been an incredible win for us but it’s still a very disappointing loss,” said Nuggets head coach George Karl.
