Celtics hands Bobcats 13th straight loss

BOSTON, MA — Paul Pierce had a double celebration inside the TD Garden on Tuesday night as he surpassed Larry Bird to become the Boston Celtic’s second all time scorer in history and by defeating the Charlotte Bobcats, 94-84.
“It was a relief. So much was hanging over me the last couple of days, just hearing about it and knowing that you’ve got a game to play. It’s a great feat knowing you are going to be up there with all the great Celtics,” said Paul Pierce on passing Bird and moving into 2nd place on C’s all-time scoring list.
Pierce scored 15 points, dished out nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds for the C’s. Kevin Garnett led all the scorers with 22 points for 10 of 15 field goals.
“It’s just awesome. I told the guys you have to have several things [to do it]. Longevity, health, you’ve got to stick around here a long time and you’ve got to ball and play some amazing basketball. To do what he did here, passing Larry Bird, that’s impressive,” said Boston coach Doc Rivers on Pierce’s achievement.
Ray Allen had 17 points for 8 of 14. Brandon Bass continue to be a dependable sixth man for Boston, he scored 13 points for the Celtics off the bench. And after having two low scoring games, Rajon Rondo is back on track as he added 10 points and 14 dishes to get their fifth straight win.
On the other hand, Bobcats’ resereve Derrick Brown led the team with 100 percent field goals when he shot 10 of 10 and ended up with 20 points. Reggie Williams added 21 points while rookie Kemba Walker still handles the role of being the starting point guard for Charlotte. Walker scored 16 points and had seven rebounds in the game.
The Bobcats will host the Chicago Bulls on Friday while the Celtics will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
