Sharapova edges Kvitova to reach Aussie Open finals

MELBOURNE, Australia — Mighty Maria Sharapova shouted for joy as he avenged her loss in Wimbledon against world no. 2 Petra Kvitova as she goes to the Australian Open finals with a 6-2 3-6 6-4 victory at Melbourne Park.
The Tennis scream princess will battle Victoria Azarenka in the finals who beat Kim Clijters in the semis. She denied the momentum that Kvitova got in the second set and won all the way.
In Saturday’s final the champion of the Australian Open will become the new world’s no. 1 player since Caroline Wozniacki was eliminated by Clijters in the quarterfinals.
“I just felt in the third set she had the advantage because I was always down on my serve,” said Sharapova.
“I thought I had to hit it and don’t let her finish the points the way she likes to. I just hung in there and got a few returns in in that final game, perhaps that was the key,” she added.
It will be a battle of the screamers in Melbourne Park this coming Saturday. Will Sharapova overcome the screams of the much louder Azarenka? Or the Belarusian will dominate her in every match?
Watch Saturday’s final in Melbourne Park and do not miss the rise of WTA’s world no. 1.
“Sharapova will outscream Azarenka, I mean defeat Azarenka. It seems like Sharapova will once again hold the no. 1 spot in the WTA rankings,” said Kylie Morell.
“What is expected in the first place was a classic clash between Serena Williams and Sharapova however Serena did not make it so Sharapova will surely win this one,” said Shirley Bramwell.
